In other words, these material was paid by US Taxpayers,<br>and kindly shared with the rest of the world.<br><br><br>This is a typical way of funding Public Goods, which are the<br>ones that are non-Rivalous and non-Excludable.<br>

Why the tutorial and user guide of ITK are totally free, but in VTK the tutorial and user guide are commercial products?<br>
That's a little bit tricky, since both of them are open Sources. But if you want to learn VTK, then you need to buy the references.<br>
Did you guys all buy the books of VTK or just figure it out yourselves?<br>
