Hello,

There is SimpleITK which has bindings for JAVA. It's a simplified layer on top of ITK, here is a basic example:

There are binaries readily available for a variety of platforms and languages. More information can be found here:
http://www.itk.org/Wiki/SimpleITK/GettingStarted

If the functionality you need is not already there you can always build it yourself and extend the simplified layer with some custom classes.
