Thanks for the reply, Brad!

When I change the typedef to:

typedef itk::VnlInverseFFTImageFilter< ComplexImageType, ComplexImageType > 
FFTInverseFilterType;

I get a very long error message during compilation, which starts with:

operands to binary expression
      ('std::complex<float>' and 'unsigned int')
      a = static_cast< T3 >( b / c );
