Based on what I have seen this patch is going to need a bit of work to get it ready for prime time ITK. I tried is out on my system and when I began testing it, too many threads were spawn and the OS killed all my processes. Then when I ran just one test at a time there were segmentation faults too.


"Too many threads" is a bit odd.  Umang does initialize the pool with a set of threads, then adds threads as needed. I believe the thread initialization is based on the number of cores.  But in principle, the initialization could be as low as 0 or 1 threads.

Was this on one of your giant core machines?
