Luis,

I was just running through the ImageAdaptors again and found a couple of things that we need to work
out. First, some filters are creating temporary images that are the same type as their inputs or
outputs. With the current implementation, these filters will create temporary "adapted" images but
the real image holding the pixel data in "InternalPixelType" format is not created automatically.

Second, these temporary images are wasting some space, since they are allocating images of an
internal pixel type that has components it could never access. Should we provide a standard
mechanism to create an image that uses an internal pixel type that is the same as another image's
external pixel type?

Jim
