What is the preferred way to reference IJ articles?

Brad L and I are working on a script to check for valid url's in itk
source code. When we to a GET on some url's a status of:
http://hdl.handle.net/1926/475 302 Moved Temporarily  to:(sic)
http://insight-journal.org/midas/handle/1926/475

I suspect that the hdl.handle.net is the safest. And that maybe we
should ignore the 302 status.
