Hi Sandhya,

If you want to extract a slice from a volume
and use the slice as a 2D image instead of
a 3D one, you can use the ExtractImageFilter.

Please look at the example:

    Insight/Examples/IO
        ImageReadExtractWrite.cxx

It illustrates how to do this.
