Hi Alma,

Each one of the fileformats: DICOM, MetaImage, and Analyze
could manage different pixel types, and therefore different
intensity ranges.

They include:

  char  = 8 bits  (signed/unsigned)
  short = 16 bits (signed/unsigned)
  float

among others,
