Thanks very much for the very helpful response. We'll probably go with a 32-bit
solution, and leave the 
option of upgrading up to 64-bit for sometime later if needed.

Hi Xiang,

ITK is currently compiled in 64-bits machines on
the Nightly Dashboard.

Most of those machines are running Linux,
there are also some SGI machines:

You may want to take at their results in the Dashboard


All of them have green builds,
but some have a couple of failing tests.
