Hi Ning,

It is there in case the speed image does not have the same
support as the feature image.

With the interpolator, the speed image may have different
resolution and/or cover a different extent than the feature
image.

Note that this flexibily comes at the price of spending
some computation time in the resampling.

If you are concerned about the interpolator, you probably
can remove it, but then you have to make sure that your
Speed image has the exact same support as your feature
image.
