Hi Maria,

You can create an ITK 3D image from a DICOM series by using
itk::ImageSeriesReader. Most of the ITK filters are N-dimensional so you
only need to instantiate the images and filters for 3D.

For example you can make the LaplacianSegmentationLevelSetImageFilter
example run in 3D just by changing the constant Dimension from 2 to 3 and
maybe some more small changes.
