How different is it from 
Insight/Examples/IO/DicomSeriesReadImageWrite2.cxx ? Maybe we could 
update the example, if it is lacking some features.

I would also recommend reading the section (7.12) about reading/writing 
DICOM from the ITK Software Guide.
