You will need to add:
reader->SetPixelType(YOURTYPEHERE:char,int...);
reader->SetDimensions(0,NUmberOfPixelsInX);
reader->SetDimensions(1,NUmberOfPixelsInY);
reader->SetDimensions(2,NUmberOfPixelsInX);
