if you want to take parts of the elastix code you are more than welcome.
What you need to do is take
 
- some stuff from elastix\src\Common
- everything from elastix\src\Common\ImageSamplers
- and of course the metric implementation that takes advantage of these
things: elastix\src\Components\Metrics\AdvancedNormalizedCorrelation
