The Optical Society <http://www.osa.org/> recently launched the Interactive
Science Publishing (ISP) system. The system allows publication authors to
create manuscripts that contain image data collections, associated metadata,
and links to interactive visualizations. Readers can review these
open-access publications and click on links that launch an ISP client that
downloads the image data and reproduces the visualizations and displays
presented in the figures of the paper. Readers can also browse and explore
these data collections on the ISP MIDAS server. Providing these tools allows
readers to perform a more thorough review of publication results and helps
authors disseminate important image data collections.

More information on ISP, including access instructions and a link to the
first ISP papers, can be obtained at http://www.opticsinfobase.org/isp.cfm.
