You will find multiple Smoothing image filters
described in the ITK Software Guide:

In particular you want to read

       Section 6.7 "Smoothing Filters"

in pdf-page 217-248



Among the multiple options you will find:


      MedianImageFilter
      DiscreteGaussianImageFilter
      SmoothingRecursiveGaussianImageFilter
      CurvatuerFlowImageFilter
      AnisotropicDiffusionImageFilter
      GradientAnisotropicDiffusionImageFilter
      CurvatureAnisotropicDiffusionImageFilter
      BilateralImageFilter
      MinMaxCurvatureFlowImageFilter
      BinomialBlurringImageFilter



You will have examples on the use of these filters
in the Directory:


       Insight/Examples/Filtering


All these filters will work in N-Dimensional images.
