[Insight-users] Hans Johnson elected ISC President

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Hans Johnson has been unanimously
elected by the Board of Directors of the Insight Software Consortium
(ISC) to be the new President of the ISC.

Dr. Johnson is the Director of the Image Processing Lab at the Iowa
Mental Health Clinical Research Center in the University of Iowa
Hospitals and Clinics.

Dr. Johnson has been a well respected and long-time member of the ISC
community.   He began by earning a reputation as an outstanding ITK
developer and an early adopter of the Insight Journal (
http://itk.org/Wiki/ITK_10th_Anniversary_Activities/ITK_Stories_and_anecdotes#Insight_Journal.2C_Success_Story
).  He has also been an author on 7 Insight Journal publications and
contributed several base methods to ITK, such as its Octree methods.
Dr. Johnson also gained a reputation as an outstanding supporter of
the ITK community via his active involvement in ITK's email lists and
via his support for ITK in presentations and discussions at
conferences.   Recently, he has been serving as a member of the ITK
Oversight Committee, and he has received ITKv4 funding.   His work on
ITKv4 was particularly influential on his election to President of the
ISC. Specifically, during the planning and development of ITKv4 he has
provided exceptional guidance to others while also being very
receptive to adapting his work to the needs and suggestions of the
community.   His "the ITK community comes first" attitude will spur
the ISC and ITKv4 to a successful future.

About the ISC
The Insight Software Consortium is a non-profit, educational
consortium dedicated to promoting and maintaining open-source, freely
available software for medical image analysis.  The ISC began with
members of the NLM's ITK development team. The ISC now includes
members of the CMake and IGSTK communities, and the ISC is open to
accepting other software libraries and applications that are
complimentary to ITK and the ISC's open-source, medical image analysis
efforts.
