[Insight-users] whay max and mean curvatures values are always positive with itkQuadEdgeMesh???

Hi itk users,
I'm a newbie to itk and I have question regarding mesh curvature computation.
I'm using the class itkQuadEdgeMesh for this purpose :
"itkQuadEdgeMeshDiscreteMaxCurvatureEstimator.h" is used to compute the Max curvature
"itkQuadEdgeMeshDiscreteMeanCurvatureEstimator.h" is used to compute the Mean curvature
I've tested several volumes which I convert first to a mesh and I have noticed that the mean and max curvatures values returned by the above classes are always positive!
I checked with vtkCurvatures class and I’ve found that these curvatures can take negative values (as it is supposed).
 
Could someone explain to me why this occurs?
