[Insight-users] Maximizing or Minimizing a cost function

Hi !

1-Does anyone know why the final value of calculating Mutual Information
(the measure) has been put as NEGATIVE in the GetValue() or
GetValueandDerivative() function? 
Which value could be interpreted as an indicator of maximizing or minimizing
a cost function?! "measure" which shows the final value of the cost function
or "derivative" which shows the derivative of cost function wrt
transformation parameters?!or neither ?!

2-If I define a penalty regularization function to be minimized along with
the cost function such as MI which must be maximized, what could be the
solution in term of implementation in ITK and Getvalue() function?!
One must be put as negative and the other as positive?!
