I think it is a good idea to name your list iterator and image
iterators in a better way to avoid confusion. This 'it' variable
is your list iterator from what I understand. When you
deference this iterator, (like this *it), you will have the image iterator
you are looking for.

All you need is ++(*it). Note that (*it) will give you your image iterator
and ++ will forward that corresponding image iterator.
