David Lonie from Kitware recently posted a favorable impression of lucidchart.com on Google+. I played with it just a little bit on Friday, and it seems like a reasonable online drawing tool which could be used for this purpose.

The free level limits you to “60 objects per document”, but it looks like a fairly comprehensive tool which should suit this purpose nicely.

And they have paid-for levels that allow you to go beyond the limits of the free version if you need to.

Subject: [Insight-users] Tool to draw a composite filter's diagram

Hi everyone,

I work with ITK and write many composite filters, some of which end up being
quite complex. In order not to get lost with the internal connections
between filters, I draw a diagram for each composite filter's pipeline. At
the moment I use powerpoint to make these drawings, but it's clearly not
designed for this use.

Does anyone know a tool that would be convenient for this ? Something
WYSIWYG, on which I could quickly add and remove filters, specify their
number of inputs and outputs, connect them, and have the diagram reorganize
automatically so as to minimize the number of intersections. Or at least a
tool in which the connections do not break when I move the filters around in
an attempt to do so.

Best regards,
Cyril
