Open Hands-on Workshop on

The Insight Segmentation and Registration Toolkit (ITK)

Summary: The Insight Segmentation and Registration Toolkit (ITK) is a
widely used, open-source, cross-platform software toolkit that provides an
extensive suite of software tools for biomedical image analysis, especially
segmentation and registration. Developed using extreme programming
methodologies, ITK employs leading-edge algorithms for registering and
segmenting multi-dimensional data. Luis Ibanez, Matt McCormick, and
Xiaoxiao Liu from Kitware, Inc. will conduct a hands-on workshop (see
agenda<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wHYa5zbq7pEFpRXQPOUNHk-xVYKZCRn-SfzK4pYQ5FE/edit?usp=sharing>)
on ITK (version 4). The interactive portion of this workshop will include
an introduction to  ITK v4 <http://www.itk.org/> and Simple
ITK<http://www.simpleitk.org/>,
with hands-on exercises on advanced image filtering, segmentation, and
registration techniques. A free USB thumb drive will be provided with all
necessary software.

When:  Tuesday, May 28th, 10am-5pm.

The first hour (10am – 11am) will provide an ITK overview for those who
cannot attend the whole workshop. The rest of the workshop will be a
hands-on learning experience.

Where: FB-007, Sitterson Hall, Dept. of Computer Science, The University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Audience: This workshop is appropriate for all scientific programmers,
especially image analysts, who are interested in learning about ITK and
ways to use it in their work.
