[Insight-users] Advice on manipulating DICOM files

Hello all,

I'm beginning to work with 2D, 3D and 4D (3D + time) DICOM images, and I
need a good library to manipulate this type of files.

I would really like to use ITK because I will need to do some registration
on this images later on, and I've used it before while working with Slicer
3D and got pretty good results.

So far I see that I have two choices: GDCM and DCMTK.
- The connection of GDCM to ITK seems to be a bit old, however, I don't see
a lot of people complaining about it, so I'm assuming it works.
- The connection of DCMTK and ITK has been developed very recently, I can't
even find an example on how to use it. However, DCMTK seems to be a really
nice and organized library.

Do you have any useful advice for me in choosing the most convenient
library?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
