You are correct. We expect to have it in the next release.
As a temporary solution if you need rigid alignment you can take the python function absolute_orientation_m from the ipython notebook found here:
https://github.com/zivy/SimpleITK-Notebook-Staging/blob/master/registration2.ipynb
