Interaction with OpenDX?

Hi.  I was covering the Open Source/Open Science conference on the weekend
(http://openscience.bnl.gov) on behalf of "Doctor Dobb's Journal", and
learned that IBM has open source'd its Data Explorer product (now called
OpenDX, at http://opendx.org).  I was wondering how people see interaction
between it and VTK playing out: the two projects address exactly the same
needs, but the community may not be large enough to support two
incompatible efforts.
