Image segmentation with VTK

I'm just inquiring whether any one has any experience with segmenting 24 
bit colour images using VTK???

There is an example of segmenting CT data in ../imaging/examples which is 
still distributed with vtk2.4 despite the tcl code there containing 
obsolete classes (pre vtk2.0 it seems)
