[vtkusers] windows application

Hello , 

i tried to create a true windows application instead of a console
application (using visual) - I tried the code from
the user guide book pg 32-37.
When the vtk renderer window shows up with the sphere/cone/** on it the
mouse interaction works fine, but the
key board interaction does not work at all. Is this normal?
In the WndProc method do the key responses need to be mapped?.(for example p
for picking, w for wireframe etc).
Could some one respond to this please...............
