Missed earlier description of the problem, but if you are 
trying to frame a region of interest with a "cut-away box",
then the following might apply. 

I think visibility applies to an actor.  If so, you could make 
your "frame grid" from a set of wire-frame actors, and toggle 
visibility according to camera angle.
