[vtkusers] visualizing slice contours via vtkAppendPolyData - retry

Ok, no response yet let's try again...
can vtkAppendPolyData be used to stack
contours from volume image slices interactively?
That is, is an API call like

void AddSlice(const int& a_sliceNumber)
{

m_AppendPolyData->SetInputByNumber(a_sliceNumber,m_PolyData[a_sliceNumber]);
  m_Renderer->Render();
}

reasonble?  I only see the current slice and all previously
'appended' slices are missing.
