[vtkusers] Updating 2D actors

I'm having some trouble with 2D actors in a render window (vtkAxisActor2D specifically).  I've added some axes to the view, and when I change both the axes and the geometry, then call Render, the geometry updates, but the axes do not.  If I then click in the viewer, the axes update immediately.  Is there a call other than vtkRenderWindow::Render that I have to call to keep these actors up to date?
