[vtkusers] show edges

hi
i have a vtkPlaneSource which is just a plain parallelogram consisting of 
some number of cells (my resolution)

I want to display the edges of the entire parallelogram so i did

Paral->GetProperty()->EdgeVisibilityOn();
Paral->GetProperty()->SetEdgeColor(1,1,1);

and my background is black so the edge should appear white
but i dont see anything
i tried playing around with  SetEdgeColor, i still dont see anything
what am i missing?
