[vtkusers] Information from display

Hi,
	I am displaying vtkImageData using raycasting on the display. The data is 2bytes / voxel . I want to read the pixel value from the display using mouse cursor position. The GetRGB functions (in vtkRenderWindow) return unsigned chars which is 1 byte, but I need two bytes to be read from the display. How do I do that. Any suggestions.
