[vtkusers] When is VTK 5 due to be released? (newbie)

OK, so sounds like it won't be anytime real soon then...

In that case, as someone with no code currently, am I better starting
with 4.2 or 4.4?  Does "interim release" (4.4) imply not stable, not
tested, etc.?  "official release" (4.2) sounds maybe safer....
