[vtkusers] Pieces, ghost levels, and vtkMultiGroupDataSet

Hi,

Is there a paper or tutorial or something that explains exactly how 
dataset pieces and ghost levels work, particularly with composite datasets?

I'm visualizing a very large mesh, and the data is already segmented 
into blocks, complete with ghost data.  I want to do all of the 
processing (contours, glyphs, etc) on each piece individually, 
preferably in parallel (or at least concurrently), taking full advantage 
of the available ghost data.  The whole grid is unstructured, but the 
individual pieces may be unstructured, structured, rectilinear, or even 
uniform.

Right now I don't know enough about how it's supposed to work to ask 
intelligent questions.
