[vtkusers] Displaying Text

Hello everyone,

 

I'm working on a medical image app and would like to display some text in
the viewport, for example study date, patient's name etc.  One option I've
tried is to use vtkTextActor, but one of the application's functions is to
display images in a cine loop and displaying the text using vtkTextActor
slows things down noticeably.

 

I guess my question is, is there a better method of displaying 2D text in
the viewport?  Possibly one that takes advantage of graphics hardware?
