Hi Anja,

I don't think it'll be very useful after reading Clinton's response... 
but vtkRenderer has this "SetBackingStore(int)" method.

As for Qt, QWidget has a "setAutomaticImageCacheEnabled(bool)" method 
that is similar.

It might be worth looking into, but I can't make any guarantees. I find 
Clinton's email a lot more instructive :)
