[vtkusers] general reader for vtk

Hi All,
  I want to be able to load raw 3D data into a program.  Is there 
anything out there that will allow me to do this?  I want to be able to 
do something similar to what volView does when it loads data.  For 
instance, it asks the user for the number of rows, columns, and slice.  
Is there a way to use volView as a way to input volumes into my program?
