[vtkusers] Derivative of a few scalars (grey values)

Hello;
Is there a suitable method to compute gradient magnitude of some density values(for example : 50 sample grey scale values) which are obtained by trilinear interpolation. 
Any suggestion or an example code will be really appreciated!
