[vtkusers] vtkPolyDataNormals - preventing error message about no data to generate normals for

Hi all,

 

 I'm using a vtkContourFilter through a vtkPolyDataNormals filter. The
level of the contour filter can be changed by my GUI. If it gets changed
to a value where there is no surface (like 0), I get a pop-up vtk error
message telling me that there are "No data to generate normals for". I
can see why that's happening but I'm quite happy for nothing to be drawn
in this case (indeed, that's what I want it to do). Is there a way to
disable this message? Or, is there a way for me to check if the
vtkContourFilter is producing empty output and then not try to render
things?
