[vtkusers] vtkFixedPointVolumeRayCastMapper

When I initialize my setup I do a:

vtkFixedPointVolumeRayCastMapper *raycast_mapper = 
vtkFixedPointVolumeRayCastMapper::New();

and it takes anywhere from 10-12 seconds to come back from this.  I'm 
running this on a Dell
Precision 690 with lots of memory (Linux) and I don't understand what 
this is doing for that amount of time.

What's it doing?
