[vtkusers] vtkImageReslice problem

I solved the problem by adding 

vtkSmartPointer<vtkImageData> inImg = vtkSmartPointer<vtkImageData>::New();
    inImg->DeepCopy(m_pDicomReader->GetOutput());

but I do not understand why it works for if I do DeepCopy
