[vtkusers] scene description reader/writer

hi all,

I'm writing a VTK application where I need to read in a number of
polydata/volumes.  I would like to write a scene reader/writer, pretty much
like what Paraview can do.  What would be the recommended vtk class (and
example) to use for this?  xml writer/reader perhaps?

any help is very much appreciated,
