Dear Friends,

The University of Houston has an opening for a post-doctoral researcher in the area of biological image analysis. We are especially interested in a candidate with expertise in cell segmentation, tracking, multivariate data analysis, data mining, machine learning, and parallel/GPU implementation of image analysis algorithms.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of image analysis algorithms (especially cell segmentation and movement tracking), multivariate data analysis, machine learning, and programming in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB. Prior experience with working with biologists is a big plus. Experience with open source toolkits like ITK, VTK, multi-threaded (OpenMP) and/or GPU implementation, and graphical interface development tools are desirable.

The University of Houston is located in a park-like campus close to the Texas Medical Center, the largest in the world, and NASA. The Carnegie Foundation recognized UH as a public research university with very high research activity. Houston is a thriving city with an internationally diverse population, first-rate recreational opportunities, excellent schools, and affordable housing.

The University of Houston is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. Minorities, women, veterans, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply. The University of Houston is an ADVANCE institution, one of a select group of universities funded by NSF in support of our commitment to increase diversity and the participation and advancement of women in STEM.

Please send your application to Professor Badri Roysam (broysam at uh.edu).
