Dear fellow Insight Developers,

this email is to initiate a correspondence with the ITK community on an
upcoming series of contributions by the Johns Hopkins Center for Imaging
Science group, in conjunction with myself, on Computational Anatomy, to
ensure that these will not be redundant and will be incorporated into ITK in
a manner faithful to its contribution procedure.

Michael Bowers of JHU will be the main implementer of these contributions,
and this code will emphasize in particular:

   - Large Deformation Diffeomorphic Metric Mapping (LDDMM) determining a
   nonrigid mapping between two surfaces.
   http://cis.jhu.edu/~younes/Papers/2005/IJCV2005.pdf .
   - Representation of anatomy and its variation across individuals using
Jacobian determinants in anatomical coordinates, based on eigenanalysis of
   Laplace-Beltrami operator.
   http://www.cs.jhu.edu/~misha/Fall07/Papers/Rustamov07.pdf .

We invite the community to share their comments on these planned additions
to ITK, which could have implications for the statistics subdirectory for
example.

More details will soon follow, on the specifics of each submission, by my
collaborators at Johns Hopkins.

Best wishes,

Michel
