Luis I finally succeeded in building the system with gcc 3.1.1 My problems were largely of my own making, as I incompetently assigned my CC and CXX variables :-( (as you detected). Thanks for your patient help. I ran a pot-pourri of the test programs successfully. I assume i would need to install Dart to be able to run all test programs automatically. regards Neil
