Hello everyone,

I have the pleasure of announcing that beta packages of the Insight Toolkit [1]
for Debian GNU/Linux [2] are now available for testing. The current release
provides the i386 architecture; other platforms will be available soon.

The full announcement text, including instructions on obtaining the
packages, is available from:

    http://www . cs . mu . oz . au/~gavinb/projects/itk . php

(For the impatient, the packages are available from the
http://mentors . debian . net/ pacakge repository.)

Note that the packages are not yet officially part of Debian, although I
plan to get them into main soon, as well as incorporate ITK into the
Debian-Med project [3].

Also please note that this is the first release, and there are bound to be
problems. Until the packages enter Debian main, please use email to report
bugs and issues. Please do not use the Debian BTS or this list for problems
relating specifically to packaging. The address to use is:

    gavinb .at. antonym .dot. org

The core libraries, as well as examples, applications and documentation are
all available. The packages are:

    - libinsighttoolkit1 -- runtime libraries
    - libinsighttoolkit1-dev -- development files (headers, CMake, etc)
    - insighttoolkit1.2-examples -- source of example programs
    - insighttoolkit1.2-apps -- demo applications (with GUI, Viz)
    - insighttoolkit1.2-doc -- API reference documentation

All feedback welcome!

  :: Gavin
