First of all, WinCVS (and TortoiseCVS) each come with an executable 
cvs.exe that can be run from a DOS shell using exactly the commands in 
the guide.  So, if you set your PATH variable to include the path to 
cvs.exe , you are ready to use CVS from the command line.

I actually prefer TortoiseCVS.  It's integrated with Windows.  If you 
have an open window to the folder where you want to check out Insight, 
just right click on it and choose CVS Checkout.  You get a dialog box 
with one particular entry labeled CVSROOT.  That's where you type

:pserver:anonymous@www.itk.org:/insight/cvsroot

Under module, you type Insight or whatever.  You can actually click 
"Fetch list" and it will give you a list of modules.

For WinCVS, you basically break up the above "pserver" line at the 
colons and insert the strings in different places.
