Dear Gavin,

we have been working on the problem of fitting internal SpatialObjects 
parameters for some time. So far, Ellipses work very well and I started on 
tubes. In the later case the fits take quite a long time.

At the moment there is a project underway that aims to implement a general 
version and provide the solutions to ITK. We have discussed some of the 
details with Julien and he already implemented some functionality we 
requested.
