I used Valmet a couple of years ago...

You can try converting your GIPL files to MetaImage
and try again loading them in Valmet...

Unfortunately Valmet is not Open Source, so your
will have to contact its developers and ask for help.


A better option is to simply use the same methods
that are now available in ITK.
