The Healthcare Informatics Department at IBM Almaden Research Center is involved
in cutting edge research in medical imaging
(www.almaden.ibm.com/cs/projects/aalim/),
healthcare IT, and public health. We are currently looking for a Post-Doctoral
Researcher to assist us on a recently issued NIH grant on medical
image annotation
and segmentation. The position will involve research and development in
state-of-the-art medical imaging research applications. Specifically,
the candidate
will work in a small R&D team to create simple to use UIs for latest
segmentation
and annotation tools in 3D Slicer (www.slicer.org).
Major Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive framework for annotation and markup of medical images
- Build platform for clinical researchers to tune automatic segmenters to their
environment
- Create schemas for saving and recovering annotations into and from central
data base
- Participate in dissemination activities
- Collaborate with all members of the research team
- Publish research reports at scientific journals
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have PhD in computer science or related field.
The candidate is required to have practical experience in designing
user interfaces
as well as developing software in the medical image domain. Expertise
in programming
in C++ is required. Programming experience with Qt, VTK, ITK, and 3D Slicer
on cross platforms environment is plus. Ability and willingness to work in a
multidisciplinary team is a must.
